Hidden mount would be nice, just to make all the who people says "EoD has no content" stay silent. I can only see 1 type of mount that has been added into the game and that is a flying mount. But adding such mount would totally powercreep Skyscale Griffin Raptor, Springer and gliders so there's no chance Anet would add them. Each has a different effect on movement such as being able to jump far/jump high/glide over water. The griffon and skyscale are big expensive collections to get something kinda like a flying mount once you beat the PoF story/living world season 4. The base game and HoT were not built for mounts. you can do everything without em.
During the process of switching mounts you can get hit, put in combat, and then not be able to remount for a while. Meanwhile, skyscale is great for covering horizontal and vertical distance so even if you get put in combat, it doesn't matter as you don't have to remount if you never had to dismount in the first place.
Guild Wars 2 has two flying mounts: the Griffon and the dragon-like Skyscale. Each of them works on different physics, with the former acting like a high-speed glider, and the latter offering more
The two new mounts (turtle and skiff) will cover multi-occupant. It would be a hard effort to try and design anything else that isn't already covered by the aforementioned mounts and doesn't supersede them. Maybe its about variety, and the 2 seater mounts one is water only and the other is slooowww.

For Guild Wars 2 on the PC, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Is it true that there are no flying mounts?" - Page 4.
